Loving Romanian artist, Cristian Boian's illustration style!

Tiara heaven

I slept in today, for the first time in over 10 months! But I have a good excuse ... Mom and I stayed up to watch the wedding! Before that I was watching a special on BBC addressing all the royal jewels. I guess I didn't know just how many tiaras the Queen (or 'the people") owned.

Too many watches, not enough time

I have to admit, I am too busy to blog. Or too distracted with many projects? Too many things rolling around in my head to keep a train of thought. This hasn't happened for a long time. Freelance requires so much juggling that I find myself unable to break away. But not complaining about the work. Also still working on the fund raising project on the weekends. Took a break yesterday to have my watch batteries replaced, since I can't wear any of my 20 watches! A person that never really leaves the house doesn't have need a watch? But I got off my thought ... found a couple of places in Edmonds that I had forgotten about that might be interested in my cards? Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Visual artist, Andy Denzler, a little disturbing, but I do love the movement. Via lovely blog, Turning Pages.

Loving this blog, {design seeds} ... all about color palettes.

House of Love

Marketing Gimmicks: Top 3 Royal Wedding-Themed Ads. House of Love is very amusing!

Strike a regal pose

Watching the royal wedding craziness? I can't help but link to wieden + kennedy + will + kate, where passers-by can make their own royal portrait and the photos to prove they are royal. Great idea!

Busy week

Working on a contract gig, thank you Denise! And staying very busy with that.

Also working on a book, website and all things in between at night for Tokyo Train, a Japanese earthquake fund raising effort by photographer Robin Layton. That has wound down for the moment. But fun and exciting.

While I am glued to the computer 13 hours a day, Mom is bringing in little gifts to brighten up my desk. Have a great day!

Well, that is a flower!

Q Cassetti

I am such a huge fan of Q Cassetti.

Inner peace

Thanks to my friend Don ....

If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without alcohol,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs ....

Then you are probably ... The Family Dog!

Fuzzy, wuzzy, was a flower

Tulip Magnolias

When you have an average photo, a beautiful overlay of texture and some color shifts should do the trick. Tulip Magnolias blossoms from the abandoned house I visit. ;)

A good pairing

I am pairing Russ Mills' image with Jerry Burns music, much like I love a good cab with really dark chocolate!

Radio Radio

Thanks to Josh for allowing me to do a quick cosmetic tweak to their blog, Radio Radio. That was fun and I learned all about Squarespace. Always moving forward with new knowledge! Go check out their new single!

I am pretty overloaded right now with lots of work. And special fund raising effort for Japan that I am working on with Robin and Shakti. Exciting to be a part of the effort and it is all moving very quickly. Will tell you more when that is permitted. Got a contract gig. So not so much time for blogging and surfing. ;)

Mineo Mizuno

Mineo Mizuno via this wonderful blog, toil drops, nature inspired design. I would love to have a round seat covered with moss dots for my yard! I have small clumps everywhere now. But a more patterned, controlled look would be so nice.

Thinking making

I have been a little busy working on a couple of things. I learned all about Squarespace yesterday. That was fun. I laugh, I am the busiest unemployed person I know. But after being on the computer, pushing pixels around for days - I feel I need to step away from! Go do something different. I need to sand my new rings, clean house, iron clothes, put up my clothes pile, take a shower, refill bird feeders, you know, some of the basics ;)

Ran across this Across Cultures Bracelet and Epiphany necklace at beadshop.com. I think I am heading to the studio.

A laugh for today, go see Dear Blank via bumbumbum.

Outraged and shocked to watch this 60 Minutes segment: Mortgage paperwork mess: the next housing shock?

Game of Thrones

I am so disappointed, I thought HBO's Game of Thrones was starting tonight! I have to wait another week!

But we do have starz Camelot in the meantime. ;)

More personal

Making more personal gifts is so much more fun. Especially for some of us that don't need anything new!

D made his "songs to celebrate your life" 5-cd for our neighbor's birthday.

And I made a little more personal card.

Card collection

Photographer Ann Woo examines Playing Card Patterns via Junk-Culture. It is funny that I ran across this today because yesterday I was cleaning up my own card collection and took these. This is about half of my collection! You know when you are a collector of something, your loved ones are very generous!

Sweet nature

It poured rain straight down to the ground, like a dotted line from heaven to earth. The birds bathed themselves in little muddy pools under bushes. Then dried their feathers by lying flat on the top rail of the fence. Then the sun came out! Then it rained again. Then the sun came out. Should I be building an Ark?

Haven't seen the Wrens in the Honeysuckle in the last couple of days. Those *effing* rats better not be eating the bird eggs like a couple of years ago!

I talked to sweet friends from NC via email. Cleaned house, put together a lamp, mopped, worked on a book and mucked around with lite redesign of a website. Had a great conversation with my son. Then my best bud called me from Texas. I guess you could call it a perfect day.

The lowliest weed has its' place in the world.

Simple ideas

Sometimes the simplest ideas for gifts are the best. Remember when I made this 50-grains-of-rice-art for my friend turning 50 some years ago. I still love that idea and am thinking of reviving this for a friend turning 60 this year.

The friend I made this for, made one for her friend. I loved she used textured paper and added a few wild rice grains, a testament to the receiver, I am guessing. ;)

This was mine from years ago.

50th

My friend Chris, made a version for her friend.

I also made an assemblage piece with all things 50 included. 50 shells, flower petals, Monoply money, pennies ... all kinds of fun things.

They Draw & Cook

They Draw & Cook 2011 fig contest has concluded! And the winners are announced. I really wanted to enter one of Mom's Fig recipes, but no time.

There a many recipes submitted from this area, fun!

Magnolia stellata 'Royal Star'

I found something so spring, so lovely today!

Nature Sounds

Can I say, that I miss cricket sounds at night? And thunderstorms! Found via Links to other Birdsong and Birding Sites, but many of the links are broken.

This is a great free nature sound site, where you can combine your own mix. That is fantastic! Here is my mix, Loon and Wind Chimes. They also have top compositions, it you can't decide what sounds you like the best.

And here at Sound Sleeping, I created a flute and bird combination.

Partners in Rhyme is great for nature sounds. Have you ever heard of Nature Music Live Radio? This might be something I listen to at my computer all the time!

Morning songs

Song Sparrow is one of the first birds I heard this morning! And the Robin is the loudest! And although it doesn't list the Field Sparrow in my area, I think heard them this morning.
